Industrial Hemp and Medicinal Cannabis farmers must work together to ensure a bright future for both sectors
Cannabis plants naturally cross-pollinate each other using the wind to transport male flower pollen to female flower pistils. When the pollination of female pistils is successful, cannabis plants focus all their energy on seed production and flower and resin development decreases considerably.
Cannabis male flowers produce millions of pollen particles that can travel for over 10 kilometers with suitable conditions, such as mid-strong wind and mid-low humidity.
Industrial hemp crops and illegal regular “chamba” productions can pollinate female medicinal cannabis plants and ruin the entire harvest.
